We are a Parish that has a lovely mixed congregation and the blessing of two church buildings, which allows us to have a variety of service styles during the usual monthly cycle of worship. On Sundays, aside from the first Sunday of the month, we have 9 am services at All Saints and 10:30 am services at St Lawrence.
We have an amazing Kids and Families Pastor, and there is always provision for younger children every week at our 10:30 am service. We like to encourage our secondary school-aged young people to engage with the main service; however, they feel comfortable.
This is a short, quiet liturgical service with no hymns. We follow the Book of Common Prayer, which uses traditional language and a set pattern. This service is usually followed by breakfast, which is open to all.
This service is a traditional Holy Communion Service with a robed choir and organ. We use the Common Worship Liturgy and follow the Anglican Lectionary Bible Readings and sing traditional hymns.
Once a month, we gather both congregations to worship together at St Lawrence. The service is a Holy Communion service which is lighter and more informal in style than the 9 am. We sing a mixture of traditional and more modern hymns and have all the usual elements of a Common Worship service.
This service has a soft start where we get to enjoy hot refreshments, often freshly cooked treats, and each other’s company. It is very informal and is non-liturgical (which means the order of service can be quite flexible.) We like to sing contemporary worship songs and spend time near the end of the service in reflection and prayer. It is intended to be relevant, interactive, and engaging.
This is a reflective, quiet, contemplative service of Bible readings, prayer and praise in the style of the Taizé Community.
Everyone is welcome to join us for an hour of prayer for the Church, the community and for ourselves.
When there is a 5th Sunday in the month, we gather with Effingham Methodist Chapel to worship together. This service alternates between the Methodist Chapel and St Lawrence Church.
